sounds to me as if you have it all figured out.
if she is physically able to drive or get there, let her get there.
i'm sure your hubby would agree.
playing the sympathy card with you is a cheap shot....you are the mother and wife of your home. let your heart guide you.
if she wants to degrade you then let her put that much energy to get to see the grands!
god bless you and your hubby!!

The moment she calls you a liar in your own house she's overstayed her welcome and should IMMEDIATELY be shown the door. Giving birth to your husband some decades ago does not give her the right to abuse the mother of HIS children. Do you really think it's a good idea for your children to be exposed and perhaps influenced by this demented bag of wind? If she's incapable of simple common courtesy, make her infrequent visits even more of a rarity by being unavailable at all!! Until you get an abject apology from this person, she should forfeit any contact with the grandkids.

Yes she should. But, if you want your children to have a relationship with her, then unfortunately the burden sounds like it falls on you. You have to make things happen if you want them to - if you are having a party for the kids, invite her, want them to see her, bring them over there, etc.

Since it sounds like most of your family isn't around here, I would think that it would be imporatant to have a relationship with whatever family is around. But, you do not, under any circumstances need to put up with abuse from her.

I think you should rise above it with her and say "you know, it would be wonderful for the kids to have a relationship with their grandmother, but I simply don't think that it is a good example for my children of how to treat people if you are going to be disrespectful towards me."
