The weather will not stop you going snorkling or diving. It will however, make the seas rough. Your going to get wet either way, so rain wont be the factor. The winds and storms associated with it will be a bit off putting though.

The summer season is the tropical weather season for Cairns, it rains and storms and cyclones often reach the coastline. By March the weather should have started to clear up and your holiday should be quite enjoyable.

No – unless there is a tropical cyclone that day (very unlikely) – you will still have a great time!
Listen to the radio each morning around 7am and it tells you the weather out there and the visibility under water etc….

Seasonal info on the GBR –

A day trip out to Green Island is the most popular – Otherwise you can go out on the Outer Barrier Reef on their platform for lunch.
Most ‘tourism’ operators will do pick ups from your accommodation.
